    [2019.09.24.] - MAT - Hírkategória: Általános
This has been a very exciting year for the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine (OJSM). In January, OJSM was accepted into Journal Citation Reports, and in June it received its first Impact Factor, a strong 2.589, which placed it in the top 1/3 of all indexed journals in both orthopaedic surgery and sports sciences. Not surprisingly, the announcement of the Impact Factor has resulted in a sharp increase in the number of submissions. We are grateful for the support of the Hungarian Arthroscopy Association (HAA) in helping OJSM achieve this milestone.

As you know, OJSM is able to offer its content freely to all readers by financing production through modest article processing charges (APCs) paid by the authors, their institutions, or research sponsors. As a service to our readers and their patients, OJSM has always placed these charges well below those of other open access journals, both orthopaedic and general. After keeping these charges constant for 7 years, OJSM will be instituting a 20% increase in APCs beginning in 2020. This means that the standard APC for individuals who are not members of one of OJSM’s 29 partner societies will increase from $1000 to $1200. This increase is needed to adjust for increasing production costs over the years.

Members of partner societies will continue to receive a 25% discount, so APCs for authors who are members of the HAA and other partners will increase from $750 to $900. Any submissions directly paid for by a partner society will be further discounted to $750. The benefits to partner societies, such as free publication of meeting abstracts and consensus statements, promotion of meetings via social media, official representation on the OJSM editorial board, links to your society website, and revenue sharing from members’ APCs, will continue unchanged.

As the APC increase will go into effect for papers submitted on or after January 1, 2020, we hope that you will share this information with your members so that they will not be surprised by the change and, if they wish, so that they may submit an article before the increase goes into effect.
